Some of my interests

If you were to ask me what my favorite band is, I would tell you Aerosmith. But really Def Leopard, Journey, and 80s hair bands are some of my favorite music. I guess I’m old school, because I appreciate the passion they had and the realness of how music was made back then. It takes you back in time, to a world when things were different. I love the nostalgia.

When I’m not working remotely, I enjoy writing erotic fiction. I am also writing my first thriller right now. When I was in the 4th grade, my English teacher said, “You’re going to be a writer.” I am well versed in technical writing, but I’m still honing creative writing.

If I’m watching TV, it’s probably The Big Bang Theory, true crime, or a classic like Uncle Buck, My Cousin Vinny, or anything Chevy Chase.

I love cooking and trying new foods and recipes. I am always coming up with a new salad variation and different ways of making an old recipe new. Yes, I’m the person who brings something like artichoke dressing or Asian potato salad to Thanksgiving! One of my favorite places to buy groceries is Asian supermarkets, because they have things you can’t get anywhere else. Why buy dates when you can buy jujubes ;)

I absolutely love gardening. Growing a plant from seed is so much more satisfying than buying the plant. Yes, more trouble. But so satisfying. I have limited space at the moment, so right now I’m growing sunflowers, cannas, and a few other easy plants.

I am also a longtime houseplant collector. My collection became significantly smaller when I adopted my cat who loves eating plants. Considering I was always on the hunt for my next one, I guess it’s a blessing in disguise. I’d be surrounded by plants by now.

Two of my all-time favorite things to do are walk in nature and feed ducks. I really haven’t found a park with ducks where I live in Biloxi. Of course, we have Canadian geese, but ducks are more special, because they are harder to come by… and less likely to attack ;)

Birdwatching is something I do almost every day. They and the squirrels get 3 meals a day at my house! My two most favorite birds are the Redbird and Redwing Blackbird. I love how the male and female Redbirds look different and are never far away from each other. They are always looking out for one another as the other one feeds. The Redwing Blackbird has a distinctive call that you often hear in rice, corn, and wheat fields, like where I grew up in Arkansas.

Although I consider myself a homebody, I enjoy novel experiences, things that add color to an otherwise ordinary day and meeting new people… and travel certainly delivers!

I hope that gives you a little insight into me… until we meet and have a chance to get to know each other better.
